M1: analyse how changes in technology affect the gathering and presentation of information in different types of media, and its ability to affect events

Changes in technology can affect the gathering and presentation of information in different types of media, and its ability to affect events as when the media let people know that the police who dealt with the Stephen Lawrence case were institutionalised racists, the members of the public became distressed and disgusted with them. This would then put a negative opinion on the police and people would not respect them. The media then influenced the police to take different action against how they treat victims and they have also changed legislation to have to stick to certain codes of conduct. After the way the two police officers acted towards the Stephen Lawrence case the government have now been given full and unfettered powers to inspect police procedures and services. This will strongly involve unsolved murders and racist incidents. They have to make sure race relations legislation should apply to all police officers. The Association of Chief Police Officers will devise new guidelines for reviews of investigations. They have to review their judicial system which includes thing such as any evidence of racist motivation to be declared at all stages of the prosecution. No exclusions on the grounds of plea-bargaining, Consideration of a change in the law that would allow prosecution of racist offences that took place other than in public and Consideration of a change in the law that would allow prosecution of racist offences that took place other than in public. They have had to review their police procedures like having to give first aid to someone while a paramedic arrives and All proven "racist words or acts" should lead to disciplinary proceedings, and such behavior should normally be punishable by dismissal. They have to make sure that they have a record if they stop and search someone with a copy and they have to annually publish reports on the progress of police authority. These have all been put in place in order to change the way the police work in investigations so they have improved the way they control the investigations and recently they have managed to reopen the case of Stephen Lawrence and they have managed to trial 2 of the men who killed Stephen and convicted them of murder and they are currently serving a prison sentence.
