P2: outline how the media can affect events as well as report them

Media can affect events as well as report them because if reporters get a hold on a story then they could get the guideline information about the story and then publish a newspaper article or a news report giving a biased opinion on the story or making information up which they are not sure is true. This shows in the case of Stephen Lawrence as the newspapers published how the police believed that his friend was the one who killed Stephen because he was black. This caused anger and upset as the papers were released showing that the blame was going onto Stephens’s friends because the police were racist. This affected the people who knew Stephen and also the police forces reputation. This could also put a negative opinion against Stephens’s friend because if the media are telling the rest of the world his friend has been accused then other people may believe them accusations and start to have a negative affect against him.
